Hello, my name is Paul Chislett.
I am a photographer.
First a short limerick:
There once was a fellow named Paul
Who stored all his prints on a wall
He took them down
And showed them around
And soon he was hired by all
Wishful thinking on my part, but with planning and perseverance, I am hopeful.
My bio
I am a photographer, specializing in head shots, portraits and travel photography.
Former occupations include, retired high school teacher, former public relations spin doctor and writer. I also spent two years sailing on tall ships in the Caribbean and Europe. All these different occupations help make me a better photographer.
I started learning photography in the mid 1970s, when I was in high school by taking photos of friends, clubs and teams. It was an easy way to meet girls and make a little spare cash.
After high school, I graduated from the 2 year photography program in the Algonquin College before attending University of Ottawa to get my BA in Mass Media Studies.
After working at photography for a few years, I became a reporter and switched into public relations because the money was much, much better.
In my late forties, I returned to university to earn a teaching degree and became a high school teacher. I spent the next 20 years teaching photography to grades 10 through 12 at Bell High School in Ottawa.
I must say, I learned a lot more about photography as a teacher than in all my years as a working professional phoographer.
Now that I am retired from teaching in the public school system, I am happy to say, I am resuming my photography career again.
