Photo Walks from 2024

For the past two of years - 2023 and 2024 - I have organized  photo walks to several small towns within an hours drive of Ottawa.

These walks are free and all kinds of photographers attend, from beginner to pro.

The next question is usually about cameras.  First, the best camera is the one you have on you.  For most people, that is their phone.  Phone shooters/photographers are all welcome.

Besides your phone, you can of course use your camera.  Doesn't matter whether it is a crop sensor, point and shot, full frame, medium or even large format camera.  Hey, you can even shoot film.

So here is the morning agenda:

✔   meet at a central meeting point and introduce ourselves,

✔   spend the next couple of hours exploring and taking photos, either in groups or individually

✔   select a pub or restaurant for lunch

After lunch, you have a choice of things to do:

✔    learn a new photo technique*

   ✔     take more photos

✔     explore local antique and curio shops

✔     leave to do your own thing

* This is a new feature.  I've included it here to help people improve their skills and knowledge of photography.  There may be a small charge for this service.

So where we been in the summer of 2024 year:

In the spring and summer of 2024, we have visited the following towns:

Click on the town name to see a description of the town and photos.

    ✔     June 1st -- Perth

   ✔     June 15 -- Carleton Place

   ✔     July 1st (Canada day) -- Arnprior

   ✔     July 15th -- Brockville

   ✔     July 27 -- Renfrew

   ✔     August 10 -- Prescott

   ✔     September 14 -- Carleton Place Repeat

   ✔     October 30 -- Cornwall

   ✔      November 13 -- Wakefield 2

Renfrew Photo Walk -- July 27-2024

First, a special thanks for Mick, the summer student who joined us on the walk in Renfrew.  He pointed out a few special spots that we probably would have missed.   He also joined us for lunch before he left for his prior commitments.

We met at the bench in front of Scotia Bank.  Then we just wandered as a group down the main drag towards the river, stopping to take photos of things that caught our individual and collective eyes.

As we were wandering back towards town, we paid a visit to the Art Fair for about 30 to 40 minutes.   We didn't buy anything and we had some interesting conversations with the artists.

We ate at Karras' Way Restaurant

After lunch, we went back to the river, where I gave a demonstration on long exposure photography during the day.  We wrappd up and left at about 4:30.
